Abstract

Firstly though the analysis of a particular event (a minor military operation, the reflief of Lier Town). It will be attempted to explain the structural tendencies caused by foreing affairs policy in the Hispanic Monarchy in the 1590 decade, focusing on the effects on the defensive organization and on the generalization, neither premeditaded nor programmed, about the recourse to the non-proffessional forces in order to make sure the secondary frontiers. This article aims to verify how these tendencies affected the Monarchy, where societies were influenced by «centralizing» policy by the Crown which wanted the individual to become closer to the royal administration, although it can be also checked that its aplication proved to be particular in every concrete context according to its peculiar integration in the whole or its geostrategic situation.
