This work, on the town of Nájera in the transitional period between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period, is part of a broader research project aiming to study the organisation of political power in the towns of Upper Rioja the end of the Middle Ages. The starting point was the author's doctoral thesis on the town of Haro in the fifteenth century. The present study deals with the municipal organisation and society of Nájera, and the relations between this town and its noblemen Pedro Manrique and Antonio Manrique, from the year 1466 to the violent events of 1520. This article is based mainly on historical documentation from the Archivo Histórico Nacional, General de Simancas and the Real Chancilleria de Valladolid.
