This article analyses the impact of the ideas of Dr. Ángel Martín de Lucenay as expressed in his book «Homosexualidad» published in 1933. The article rejects any clear dividing line between «expert» thought and «popular» conceptions and by reference to a number of theories on the construction of scientific knowledge the author examines the content and reception of Martín de Lucenay s work and places it within the multiple scientific, social and cultural factors that made homosexuality an important issue at the time.
