The article examines the value that was given to Spain in the Europe of 1898. From that perspective, it takes into account these factors. Firts, the image of Spain that is appreciated in Italy and France, each one in a different bloc. Second, the foreing affair's decisions that are made in Spain. Third, the judgement that about its domestic situation make the European Governments, when they all recognired that isolation was a mistake
