This article sets out the methodological foundation and working hypotheses of a research projet on local power in Castile. Firstly it explains external and internal reasons that justify the tendency towards microanalysis, and secondly it shows the most significant characteristics of this local power in the case of Castile. In this second part, this local power is defined as a reality built from below, multiform, fragmented, deeply-rooted in the most basic elements of society, territorialized, and changed by the environment and in interaction with the social response.
