This work analyzes the libraries of the Saint Benedict Congregation of Valladolid in the 18th century. The study is based on the rules that were introduced in their Constitutions, as well as the news that was provided by Martín Sarmiento. It also contemplates the proposal he made, inspired by the achievements of the French Saint-Maur Congregation, to build a library geared towards novices that was to contribute to their training by structuring their studies and strengthening the identity of the order in the Spanish monasteries.
