The article presents an overview of the recent historical literature about nationalism, focusing on the English-speaking world and the new researches from Central and East Europe. The modernist approach, the postmodern and cultural studies, the ethno-symbolical tendencies are reviewed in the context of the general theoretical paradigm of nationalism.
