Abstract

This article deals with the first Ministry of Public Works (1832-1834) and focuses on its background and on the effects of the police organisation (established in 1824) on its formation and development. The measures taken by the Count of Ofalia and Javier de Burgos, then in charge of the Ministry, are also addressed. Finally, a study is made of the distribution of Ministry delegates within the Province of Madrid.
